Let The Games Begin!

I've spent the past several posts laying everything out for you in terms of my realization that I was obese, my desire to change my body and my life so that I could participate and succeed in something as intense as Tough Mudder, and my plan of action for going about those changes.  Now, it's time for me to put all of that thought and planning to work, and start becoming the badass that I want to be.

So, with the end of this post, I begin my journey.  But first, there is one more introductory piece of material that I have yet to share with you:  my current weight and body composition.

A commonplace item in the world of weight-loss is the use of pictures as a descriptory medium from which to show the difference in one's body changes.  I also think that mere words won't do my situation justice, as I'm sure I'll find a way to exclude certain features, even if I don't intend to.  So, here are some pictures of me that I took in my kitchen, just prior to writing this post.  Tubby shirtless male photos await you:  you have been warned.

At first, I was leery of posting these shirtless photos of myself, because I found them to be embarrassing   Eventually, however, I decided that I really needed to get over it and just put them up.  First off, as I said earlier, I don't think words can really do these photos justice.  Secondly, I believe that baring all (sort of), like I do in these photos, is part of admitting my obesity to myself.

Now, let's discuss these pictures.  As I mentioned, these pictures were taken moments before I sat down to write this post, so these are my "beginning of transformation" photos, without a doubt.  The man you see there is 275 pounds heavy.  He's bloated, his gut is distended, he has man-boobs, and he looks genuinely unhappy.  The sad thing is, all of these things are 100% true.  I feel bloated, and disgusted with myself, and I am not content with who I've become, which is one of the huge reasons that I want to change my life.

For those of you that are statistically inclined:
Weight:  275 Pounds
Waist:  44 inches
Bodyfat Percentage:  I'm not entirely sure, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was in the high 30s to low 40s.
Current Existing Medical Conditions Caused by Weight:  Hypertension (which I take medication for every day)

So my friends, there you have it.  Look long and hard at those pictures and read through those stats again, because that man ceases to exist the moment I publish this.

Wish me luck!
